A Memoir of a Life Well Lived

George W. Scott, Jr.

March 25, 1937 – March 27, 2021

When it comes to telling your life’s story you have a couple of problems, how much detail and what do people want to know about you. I decided to approach it as a mosaic, to tell many little stories and let the reader synthesize the whole. Of course you may not want to go too deep into who I am but rather to skim the vignettes, picking a few that look interesting.

I came up with the vignettes to tell the good stuff and the bad stuff in my life, going easy on the bad. My initial list of stories I wanted to tell was about 120 items long. The first vignette was recorded July 27, 2019. My voice ran out when I finished what’s on this site in October 2020. I tried to cover the major periods and events in my life and the important people. I tried for humor.

There are three types of material on this website:

  1. Essay written by Nancy Sporberg based on interviews over several months with me and people I selected.
  2. Vignettes I shot myself without a script on a number of occasions from different places in my home, using my iphone and the imovie application. (It was great fun.)
  3. Material prepared by others.
